Betsy Serrano, PMHNP, is a board-certified psychiatric nurse practitioner at Cora Health Solutions in Phoenix, Arizona. With a background in nursing from Arizona State University and a master’s from Walden University, she takes a compassionate, holistic approach to care. Betsy has experience across multiple hospital departments and specializes in behavioral health. She tailors treatment to each patient’s unique needs, providing respectful and empathetic care. Yes. You have to be on an antidepressant medication to receive nasal SPRAVATO® spray.
Q2. Am I a candidate for SPRAVATO®nasal spray?
SPRAVATO® nasal spray is FDA approved for two indications:
-Treatment-resistant depression (patients who have tried previous oral antidepressants with unsatisfactory results)
-Major depressive disorder with acute harmful behaviors
You shouldn't take SPRAVATO® nasal spray if you have:
-Uncontrolled hypertension
-History of strokes or brain bleeds
-Abnormal blood vessels at risk of bleeding, such as aneurysms or ateriorvenous malformations (AVMs)
-Sensitivity to SPRAVATO®
